Small tweaks that make your basics look custom
Your upgrade is hidden in your fit
The best-dressed guys aren’t usually the ones with loud style and expensive clothes.
They’ve figured out how to make everyday basics look like designer pieces.
Not by spending more, but by understanding what actually fits their frame.
It’s not enough to know if you’re a small, medium, or large.
You need to know how clothes are supposed to sit on you.
This week, we’re breaking down the steps you should take to make any fit look like it was made for you.
This week:

MAKE YOUR CLOTHES
WORK FOR YOU

When you start paying attention to fit, everything shifts.
Regardless of your body type, fit plays a key role in accenting your core features.
You don’t necessarily need a closet full of new pieces.
You need sharper choices with what you already own.
Want to look more built? Start with the shoulders

If you want to look stronger, start at the top.
Your shoulders carry the shape of your entire outfit.
When the seam sits right at the edge, not hanging off, not creeping up, your frame instantly looks sharper.
Pair this with sleeves that sit close to the biceps.
Not skin-tight. Just enough to add definition. Your arms will naturally look bigger based on how the sleeves sit on them.
Boxier cropped tees are also underrated here.
They draw the eye to your upper body and help create that V-taper.
Crewnecks add width across the chest - avoid v-necks.
If your shirt’s droopy, saggy, or clinging in weird spots, it’s not the right cut.
You want your shirt to work with your frame
With the right structure in your clothes, you can pull off looking like you go to the gym, regardless of if you do or not.
Look leaner with a cleaner waistline

A clean line through the waist changes your whole silhouette.
You’re not hiding anything, you’re just shaping it.
For instance, a good tee should follow your body, not cling to it.
Slight taper through the torso. Lightweight fabric that moves with you.
Not stiff. Not bulky.
This is where most guys go wrong - they either size up too much and lose their shape, or go too tight and make every movement look awkward.
Try tucking your shirt in if it’s too wide or long. It sounds outdated but trust me - this will never go out of style.
It’s a simple hack for when the fit is slightly off, and changes your entire silhouette.
Take it a bit further: add a long necklace or wear a shirt with a vertical seam.
These are simple visual cues that lengthen the torso and keeps the eye moving down.
Control your hems to give yourself some height

There’s a lot more you can do than just wear shoes with thick soles to look taller.
Focus on where your clothes begin and end.
Your shirt should land just below the belt, anything further and it begins to cut your legs short.
While your pants should fall clean at the ankle, no bunching or break.
If your pants stack at your shoes, that actually works against you as it gives the illusion that your lower half is not long enough for your pant legs.
Stick to lower-profile shoes.
High-top sneakers are just going to interrupt your leg line.
Last thing: try a slightly higher waist line.
It lifts your entire frame, adds leg length, and brings everything into proportion.
