If it sounds too good to be true…

When I look back on old photos of myself, I was a totally different person. 

Not in my style, but in how I carried myself…ok I guess in my style as well.

My jawline wasn’t sharp.  My hairstyle wasn’t great.  And I could’ve used some work on the posture.

But not once did I think some magical quick fix was going to solve all my problems.  

If you’ve been on my YT channel lately you’ll see I fell into a rabbit hole of this very weird trend on the idea of changing yourself through quick looksmaxxing hacks

Let me summarize: just don’t do it. 

I even saw some TikTokers in their mid 20's saying they're getting taller by doing 4 stretches daily. Unfortunately it's all BS.

Looksmaxxing is this internet trend where guys use new methods that are supposed to maximize your looks.

You might’ve seen this explode over the past couple of years on TikTok and Reddit - it has gained huge popularity especially with Gen Zs.

My hot take: looksmaxxing can be amazing if you're looking to actually put time and effort into your looks. It's all encompassing, so you could looksmax by going to the gym, getting a great haircut, getting a tan, or getting your eyebrows trimmed.

Unfortunately, there is a dark side to looksmaxxing and that's what's getting a lot of traction online lately. It’s one of those rabbit holes where the deeper you go, the worse it gets.

Some examples…

🛑 Bonesmashing

Firstly hitting and damaging yourself is never good for your body, let alone your face.  Yet there’s guys online hitting themselves thinking they’re going to improve their jawline or cheekbone structure. 

What you can really do: Hit the gym, eat right, and stay consistent.  Your face will look slimmer from a proper diet and regular exercise.

🛑 Mewing 

This is the practice of pressing your tongue onto the roof of your mouth to create a more defined and stronger jawline. Does it work? Yes. Will anyone notice the difference? Probably not.

Instead: You’re much better off either losing weight (dropping your body fat %) if your face is on the chubbier side. That will enhance your jawline WAY more than mewing for hours every day.

Stop focusing on fads

Believe or not, there’s a lot more of these “hacks” that don’t work. Avoid them and focus on…

  • A proper diet

  • Regular exercise

  • Good sleep

  • Simple things like an actual skincare routine, whitening your teeth, getting a tan, etc

Or better put, healthy habits are all you need to look and feel like you’ve always wanted to.  

If you feel like your body is missing something, you might just be missing the effort.  

Solid effort = solid results, always.
