Most guys' apartments look the same.

Overhead lights blasting, wires everywhere, bare surfaces.

I know because mine used to look like that until I changed 5 things.

And honestly the difference is kind of embarrassing — the biggest upgrade cost me like $20 and I'm almost mad nobody told me sooner.

First thing I did was kill the overhead lighting. It was too harsh. Made my whole place feel like a doctor's office.

I added soft lighting throughout my apartment instead and it immediately felt more cozy.

Lamps, warm bulbs, a couple of strip lights behind the TV. That alone changed the entire vibe.

Then I dealt with the wires.

Visible cables make your place look messy no matter how clean it actually is.

I got cable management boxes and wire covers and just hid everything.

Took maybe an hour. Now my desk and living room actually look intentional not chaotic.

I also got real plants. Yes, I do struggle to keep up with them sometimes. But they add life and warmth to a space in a way that nothing else does.

Even if one of them is barely hanging on at any given time, it still looks better than a bare corner.

Every room in my apartment now has candles or an incense holder.

I light them when I get home, when someone comes over, whenever I want to set a mood.

It sounds small but your space should smell as good as it looks.

If you're spending money on fragrances for yourself, why would your apartment smell like nothing?

It may sound random. But open your closet right now and look at it.

If it's a mess of random plastic and wire hangers from the dry cleaner, your clothes aren't hanging right and your closet looks like a dorm room.

So swap them out with matching wooden hangers from Amazon.

It takes $20 and 20 minutes but your space will feel more premium once done.
